Personal Protective Equipment
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is anything used or worn by a person to minimise a risk to the person’s health or safety.
Emergencies
An emergency plan must be prepared, maintained and implemented by the person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU – the new term that includes employers) for the workplace.
Manual Handling
Most industries have particular sectors that have a high proportion of injuries caused by manual handling. Manual handling is any activity that requires the use of force exerted by a person to lift, carry, lower, push, pull, move or hold any item. It also includes work involving repetitive activities, sustained muscle exertion and fixed postures.

Why do we have a Code of Conduct?
Councillors, administrators, members of staff of council, independent conduct reviewers, members of council committees including the conduct review committee and delegates of the council must comply with the applicable provisions of council’s code of conduct in carrying out their functions as council officials. It is the personal responsibility of council officials to comply with the standards in the code and regularly review their personal circumstances with this in mind.
Declaring Gifts and Benefits
You must avoid situations giving rise to the appearance that a person or body, through the provision of gifts, benefits or hospitality of any kind, is attempting to secure favourable treatment from you or from the council.
